Compensations , returns and second acts are ubiquitous in our culture today: the celebrity who turns a life of addiction into one of retrieval and purpose; the politician who falls from grace and rises to create a nonprofit that helps the disadvantaged.
So often it is a major setback such as cancer, divorce, job loss, the death of a loved one, bankruptcy, or an accident - that puts the spotlight on our lives and shows us the way to a meaningful "second act."
Sooner or later we all hits the skids. It happens to everyone of us. At some point we all wind up with our backs against the wall and need to make a return. Yes, we all get knocked down, but successful people know how to pick themselves back up. So how do we do it? Here's your playbook for success!
1) Refuse to die. Those with a powerful character tend not to allow the indignity of failure to force them down.A return accepts disaster. When you are down, other people will indeed write you off. Do not let them define you.
2) Decide to fight. Returns have an inner sense of justice that refuses to be violated. And manage their emotions reminding them self's of where they have been and why they have been there. They also have the strength that nothing will ever stop them. Manage your darkest fears by doing something about it. Take action. And if at first you don't succeed , do it and do it again.
3) Get mad. Pain failure, loss and embarrassment are such great motivators. Use the pain as fuel that drives your return.Because if you do not ,it will become the fuel that perpetuate your current situation.
4)Get creative. The employee wont make the same mistake twice. He accepts the hard rules of the real world. He analyzes and turns trouble into his advantage and he chooses to see every situation as an opportunity for a second chance, rather than the set back.
5)Focus on results. Once you are on your own way don't look back and don't allow previews obstacles to slow you down. The true champion rolls with the punches and keep coming back for more.
6)Take a risk. Good things come to those who risk. To step outside the box and to allow themselves to be vulnerable. However, the first thing you must do is to stop thinking of risk as just one shot do or die situation. Instead, start thinking of risk as a journey of exploration. A journey that you choose to make for the purpose of exploring an entirely different path. Entrepreneurs don't take risks. They go on a journey to explore other means of making a living.
7) Enjoy the ride. The ultimate reward for the person making the comeback, is to see his or her vision come to life in the real world.
This reality is fascinating me , that in times of danger , great opportunities occur.
So look at every obstacle ,setback, or rejection as an opportunity to redeem your self. That is the attitude you must bring to create your come back, and this is precisely the attitude which allows you to enjoy success in your life.
Sincerely
Christos Stamos
